Hungary’s most special aqua park has opened – PHOTOS
The new season at the Aquaticum Strand in Debrecen started on 20 May. The country’s most modern outdoor aqua park opened its doors in the summer of 2020, the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rising number of visitors
According to hajdupress.hu, in its third season, the pool complex plans to further increase its number of visitors by developing event tourism and adding new services. The details were announced at a press conference on Thursday, 19 May.
Aquaticum Debrecen Strand attracted 165,000 visitors in its first season, in 2020, in the shadow of the coronavirus epidemic.
Meanwhile, last year, this number exceeded 170,000.
Since then, the epidemiological restrictions have been relaxed considerably, so the place can expect even more guests this year.
A unique experience
The beach has won the approval of not only the public but also the industry itself. Huge green plant walls, gently cascading waterfalls, and water veils give the beach a truly unique touch.
The 15 pools with different functions, designed to suit everyone from very young children to the elderly, also provide an unrivalled experience, as Travelo reports.
- The little ones (between 0 and 4 years old) can play with splashing animal figures and baby slides.
- Children aged 4-8 will be entertained by the Robinson tree.
- Meanwhile, children aged 8-12 can enjoy an airship dock with water cannons and a variety of slides.
- For the older ones, there’s Kalandmedence (Adventure Pool), the 12-metre-high central building, with four different giant slides. For the even older ones, the 12-metre-high glass-walled pool is connected to a water bar, sun loungers, and shaders.
The spa and relaxation pools await spa lovers in a secluded, tranquil location at the foot of the Nagyerdei trees. And for those who like to play sports,
there is a range of sports fields (basketball, volleyball, small-court football, etc.), a fitness park, as well as teqball and ping pong tables.
The past, the present, and the future
László Papp, the mayor of Debrecen, called the history of the beach a success. He underscored that the idea of the beach and the restaurants on the promenade in front of it had proved to be a viable one.
The mayor said that one of the most important improvements for this season is the online ticketing system, which is now available in English. László Papp added that this year, too, great emphasis will be placed on the organisation of programmes and events.
